Leadership is a family affair for Denise Morrison, CEO of Campbell Soup. Her sister, Maggie Wilderotter, is CEO of Frontier Communications. Both are among a rare group of women to achieve CEO status in corporate America.

Morrison is Campbell Soup’s 12th leader in the company’s 143-year history. One of the big challenges Morrison and Campbell Soup face is connecting with young people. Turns out, younger consumers (under 25) are not soup lovers.

Morrison and Campbell Soup have turned to social media to help reinvigorate the company and iconic brand. She freely shares her advice to leaders, especially women leaders:

“Leading and having fun.”   “Networking is working.”   “It’s all a balancing act.”  “…have a good sense of personal mission. Who you are, and what you stand for, and what your values are. If you don’t know who you are, then you can’t lead others.”(Forbes interview, October 22, 2013)

Her focus on developing her vocational health (meaningful calling, drive to succeed) and her intellectual health (adaptive mindset) makes Denise Morrison our Grounded Leader of the Week.
